Nicole Neugent

Band Director

Prior to coming to Rushing Middle School, Nicole Neugent previously taught seven years as the Assistant Band Director at Cross Timbers Intermediate School in Mansfield ISD. Her responsibilities included teaching all the 6th grade beginning Flute, Double Reed, Clarinet, and Saxophone classes, as well as alternating teaching responsibilities for the 5th grade pre-Band classes. In 2016, she returned as the Summit High School Colorguard Director having previously directed the SHS Colorguard from 2007-2012. In addition to working with the guard, Mrs. Neugent also taught flute private lessons in the area. Prior to CTIS, she taught elementary music in Irving ISD and has served as a Colorguard Instructor and flute private lesson instructor for the past 15 years. Mrs. Neugent also taught Colorguard and flute at Creekview High School in Carrollton, TX from 2000-2007. In 2017 she was a guest performer with the T.A. Howard Honor band during their Midwest concert in Chicago, Illinois.

Mrs. Neugent is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in Flute Performance. While at UNT, she was a member of the UNT Wind Symphony under the direction of Eugene Migilaro Corporon. Mrs. Neugent was a student of Dr. Mary Karen Clardy and also a member of the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Anshel Bruselov.

Mrs. Neugent was a member of the award-winning L. D. Bell High School Band under the direction of her father, Joseph Grzybowski. She served as drum major and was a three-year TMEA All-State Musician. She also performed as a soloist with L. D. Bell at Midwest in 1999 under the baton of Harry Begian. Mrs. Neugent is a native of Royal Oak, Michigan where her father was a band director and her mother was a private flute teacher before moving to Texas in 1984.

Mrs. Neugent is a member of TMEA, Texas Bandmasters Association and Sigma Alpha Iota. Outside of music, Mrs. Neugent’s passions are all things Disney and her husband who is the Head Director at Rock Hill High School.
